The Books
Nope! Each book is a standalone with its own couple and its own happy ending. They’re connected, though. Characters from earlier books pop in, so you’ll see couples you already know together. If you like discovering every love story from the start, begin with Left Turn.
I used to fly to and from England for work. When Outlander hit TV, I started imagining what would happen if I got on the plane home from London and found a Scottish actor in the seat next to me. What would that conversation look like? Would he want his privacy? Would I talk too much? (Always a danger.) Those questions grew into Alex and Finley’s story.
The story was sparked by Sam Heughan, but a younger Henry Cavill was the face in my head while I wrote. Here’s the fun part: every reader who’s asked me this pictured someone different. So I keep my descriptions light. Your Finley is the right Finley.
Some parts, yes. My career shows up in every book. I worked for years in Alex’s industry and lived a lot of what she goes through. But the families, the backstories, and the romances are made up. (Well, except for that nonchalant proposal in Code Block. Source material: my husband.)
Most of them! If you know Houston, you’ll recognize a lot of the settings, and yes, the downtown tunnels are real. A few spots are made up, though, including the neighborhood where Noah buys his house. Don’t go looking for it. My book club already tried.
My corporate job took me around the world, and on one trip, Scotland. Everything there has so much history, and the Scottish landscape is absolutely beautiful. It’s not in every story I write, but it’s popped up in both Left Turn and Code Block.
Book 3, Breaking Ground, is Grace’s story. A reader who’d finished Left Turn and Code Block asked me for it, so I bumped it up the list. The best way to stay in the loop with my books is to join my newsletter.
Buying and Reading
Right here on my website! Both ebook and paperback formats are available. You’ll also find them at Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play, and most online bookstores. And physical bookstores can order the paperbacks. (But you might have to request them.) Links are on the book pages.
Buying direct gives more of your purchase to me, the author, instead of to a big retailer. Ebooks can be immediately downloaded, and paperbacks are printed and shipped to you. Plus, if you order from me, you can get 20% off by using the code: WEBSITE20.
Yes! My ebooks are available to libraries through OverDrive, so you can borrow them with the Libby app if your library carries them. If it doesn’t, ask your librarian to order them or request them on Libby. Those requests really help authors.
Right now my books come in ebook and paperback. A large-print edition of Left Turn is in the works.
About Lancy
I hit a reading slump and complained to my husband that I couldn’t find anything good to read. He said, “You know what you like to read. Write your own damn book.” So I did. I went to writing conferences, took classes, and pulled out an idea that had been rattling around in my head for years. That idea became Left Turn.
No, Lancy is a pen name. I’m not sure when I found her, but from the time I was little, the heroine in my made-up stories was named Lancy. As those stories became more complicated, the last name appeared. And when it came time for a pseudonym, it seemed a natural fit.
